peptiviopeptides

Selank, DSIP and the body’s own timing.

About peptiviopeptides

Peptides have names that sit still. The experiments follow bodies that carry on changing. That mismatch is the reason for this site.

Why these experiments?

I hear something alive in “vio.” It brings to mind a body going about its ordinary rhythms while an experiment tries to change one thing. The DSIP hormone study gets close to that picture: ACTH-like immunoreactivity fell, while cortisol followed its daily decline without a peptide effect. The two hormone outcomes spoiled my mental picture of a single stress dial. It makes a broad claim about “stress reduction” feel premature.

Selank adds a different sort of time question. Its sequence was extended to slow degradation, and the rat gene-expression experiment describes different counts at one and three hours. There is room to be interested in such results without claiming they predict a person’s day.

peptiviopeptides is a personal collection of essays about those Selank and DSIP experiments. It offers no products, appointments or prescriptions. The interest is in what happened in the published work and why it might have happened.

Measurements that persuade me

The most persuasive experiments, to my taste, measure an effect alongside something that carries on unchanged. I’m persuaded by specificity: which animals, which preparation, which hormone and when the sample was taken. The modified DSIP fusion peptide in mice is a good example. Changing the molecule makes the comparison with native DSIP part of the question.

I distrust years of reassurance assembled from weeks of observation. The small human literature leaves too much time unobserved. Community stories can suggest questions, but their anecdotal character cannot supply the clinical answers.

Health decisions

Nothing here can diagnose anxiety, explain an individual’s insomnia or choose a medicine. This site is commentary on experiments, and its judgments have no standing as medical advice. A qualified healthcare professional can consider symptoms, other medicines and medical history in a way these pages cannot.

The source list is available in full. Factual corrections can go to the contact address, especially when a population, preparation or time point has been misdescribed.
